National Speech & Debate/Forensics


1) Dallastown Area High School is a charter member of the National Speech and Debate Association. This      nationally recognized honor society awards points to students for their activities related to speech and debate. Students will receive degrees of honor from the NSDA based upon their point levels. 

2) Students are eligible for membership in the NSDA if they have:
                A)  Attended 3 or more tournaments, and
                B)  Earned 25 NSDA points

3) Once a student has achieved membership in the NSDA, he/she will receive a certificate on which his/her degrees will be recorded. This certificate will be displayed in the 100-wing trophy case until the student has graduated.

4) Only students who are members of the NSDA are permitted to compete in the NSDA Qualifying tournament in March of each year. 

5) Graduating students in good standing with the team who are members of the NSDA will be awarded Honor Cords to wear during commencement. 
           A) “Good standing” means the student: 
                     i)  Is not currently suspended from the team
                      ii) Is an active member of the team (has competed with the team at least                                once during the school year).
